The bibliographic record

The bibliography is a list all of your books, articles, digital documents etc. and is stored in the widely used BibTeX format.

Let's take a closer look at a bibliographic record:

Every record consists of the record type, a key and the bibliographic information. In our example the record type is   Book   and the key is   Hilgartner:2000.   The key must be unique in a bibliography. You can find a list of all record types at the wikipedia article for BibTeX.

If want to add an excerpt, some notes or other types of text to a bibliographic record, click on the key   (Hilgartner:2000   in this case). This opens the Mediawiki article with the same name as the key. To switch from an article to the corresponding bibliographic record, click on the title headline of the article. This works only for the skin 'BibwikiMonobook'. The title headline of a wiki page in other skins is not a link.
